UK VAPE TAX STARTS 1ST OCTOBER 2026
But your Vape Direct prices are not suddenly changing overnight. Here is what the new duty means, what is staying the same and what you can expect from us.
WHAT'S CHANGING?So, what is actually happening?
From 1 October 2026, the UK Government is introducing Vaping Products Duty. The duty is charged at 22p per ml of vaping liquid, which is the same as £2.20 per 10ml. It applies whether or not the liquid contains nicotine.
YOUR PRICES AREN'T SUDDENLY GOING UP ON 1ST OCTOBER.
We have planned ahead and secured stock across many of the products our customers already buy from us. This means we can maintain current pricing across a large part of our range while eligible existing stock remains available.
How much is the new duty?
These figures show the Vaping Products Duty itself. The eventual retail price of any product will depend on more than duty alone.
What does this mean for Vape Direct prices?
What stays the same initially?
Many of our existing products, prices and multibuy deals can continue while our eligible pre-duty stock remains available. We have prepared specifically so customers do not see an overnight change across the whole range on 1 October.
Will prices eventually change?
Yes, some will. As existing stock sells through and is replaced by newly duty-paid stock, some products will need to move onto new pricing. Different products may change at different times depending on stock levels.
The transition period
Eligible unstamped vaping products that were produced or imported before 1 October 2026 can continue to be sold during the Government's six-month transition period.
Quick questions, simple answers
Does everything go up by £2.20 on 1st October?
No. The new duty is £2.20 per 10ml of vaping liquid, but that doesn't mean every product will increase by £2.20 on 1st October.
Does the duty apply to nicotine-free vape liquid?
Yes. The new Vaping Products Duty applies to vaping liquid whether or not it contains nicotine.
Are vape devices themselves taxed?
The Vaping Products Duty is calculated on the volume of vaping liquid. The duty is not a flat tax on the hardware itself.
Will your current deals continue?
Many of our current prices and multibuy deals can continue while our existing eligible stock lasts. We will keep customers updated as that changes.
Why might some products change price before others?
Different products will sell through existing stock at different speeds. That means some lines may move onto duty-paid replacement stock before others.
Do I need to panic buy?
No. Vape Direct has planned ahead and secured stock across a large part of the range. Our aim is to make the transition as straightforward as possible for our customers.
How will I know when prices change?
We will keep this page updated and continue communicating significant pricing changes through our website and customer emails.
