How to Vape MTL and DTL

New vapers might experience confusion over the difference between MTL and DTL vaping. Here is what you need to know about how to perform both styles.

There are different vaping styles which suit diverse types of vapers. We have attempted to explain the difference between MTL and DTL vaping before, but we haven’t talked you through how to perform each one. Let’s start with a short refresher and then cover how you vape MTL or DTL.

What is MTL Vaping?

MTL (or M2L) vaping stans for Mouth To Lung. This is the vaping style commonly favoured by ex-smokers. Using this vape style, you breathe the vapour into your mouth before you inhale it properly. This imitates the way you would smoke a cigarette. Smokers who make the switch to vape devices often retain their smoking style without even thinking about it. However, if you wish to try MTL vaping for yourself, this is how to do it…

How to Perform MTL Vaping?

If you want to vape MTL from the beginning of your life as a vaper, follow these instructions.

Step 1 – Take a long pull of the vape device. When you are smoking a cigarette, you don’t take long drags on it because you know that would make you cough. For a flavourful vape device experience, you want a longer drag. Hold the vapour in your mouth until you are ready to inhale.

Step 2 – Take the vapour in your mouth and inhale as you would inhale a cigarette. If you are totally new to vaping, this just means take a normal breath inwards, allowing the vapour to travel to your lungs.

Step 2 – Let the vapour out on the exhale, when you should taste your vape juice a second time.

What is DTL Vaping?

DTL vaping, on the other hand, involves breathing the vapour in and sending it straight to the lungs. There is no breathing in the vape juice and holding it in your mouth. Using Direct To Lung vaping, you breathe the vape juice straight in. It doesn’t stop in your mouth like it does in MTL vaping. Experienced vape device users prefer DTL vaping because it requires top of the range sub ohm vape equipment, while MTL vaping is better performed with a pod kit. DTL vaping works best with a low resistance vape kit. This lets you get bigger clouds of steam with more flavour on the exhale.

How to Perform DTL Vaping?

If you wish to vape DTL style, then follow these instructions.

Step 1 – Take a drag on the vape device. At first, you will want to begin with a smaller drag. When you build up experience you can take longer draws without choking yourself.

Step 2 – As you take the drag, breathe it immediately into your lungs. Don’t hold the steam in your mouth, just inhale it straight down into your lungs.

Step 3 – you can hold the vapour in your lungs for a moment. This helps you get the most of the flavour as well as strengthening your lungs. Otherwise you can just exhale immediately. You should find the vape juice tastes better on the exhale.
