There are so many types of vape device on the market that we forgive you for not knowing where to start. We have previously talked about the different terminology we use, about our awesome range of e-liquids, and given other useful advice to help the starter vaper get going. Today, we are turning our attention to the sub-ohm device, the pod vape device, the open tank models, and the disposable e-pens.

This article is for those new to the world of vaping. However, if you are an experienced vaper who wants to try something different, or if you have tried vaping before and did not enjoy the experience, please do read on. Some of this information will help you, too.

The Different Types of Vape Device Explained

Here is all you need to know about the four main types of vape device.

What is a Sub-Ohm Vape Device?

Sub-ohm vaping devices have an atomizer whose resistance is less than a single ohm. Since there is almost no resistance, the vapour passes straight on into your lungs when you breath in. We call this DTL or Direct to Lung vaping. An ohm is a unit of measuring electrical resistance. To be sub-ohm means to have little resistance.

Sub-ohm devices produce huge clouds of vapour which are not great in a car. The taste is stronger because you burn more product. These are high power, high wattage, and for experienced vapers.

What is a Pod Vaping System?

A pod system is an uncomplicated way to start vaping. A pod vaping kit consists of your e-cigarette, which is slimline in comparison to the sub-ohm, which needs a lot of power and a large tank. To use a pod system, you place the capsule of flavour into your device and click it in to break the seal on the pod. You then press the buttons to heat the liquid and breathe in through the mouthpiece.

Pod devices are easy to keep clean, simple to refill, and come in a broad range of colours, shapes, and sizes. They are less powerful than the sub-ohm but far better for a beginner.

What is an Open Tank E-Cigarette?

An open tank e-cigarette or vape device has the refillable qualities of the sub-ohm but comes with less power. Open tank vape devices range in size and shape, and you can describe a sub-ohm device as an open tank. All it really means is that you buy the e-liquid, vape juices in a bottle, and top up the tank yourself.

The open tank vape device is between the pod system and the sub-ohm system in power. Power will vary with the size of model you buy.

Can you buy Disposable E-cigs?

You can buy disposable e-cigarettes but we urge caution of buying them from non-specialist vendors. In our recent article about illegal vape pens, we discovered trading standards have been cracking down on unsafe disposables all over England. Buy your disposable e-cigarettes from a reputable supplier or upgrade to a reusable vape kit and do your part to save the planet.
