Do you hate having a dry, burnt taste to your vape? Everyone does! Here are five ways you can prevent that acrid taste and keep vaping happy…

A burnt coil is every vaper’s worst nightmare. If you have ever taken a puff of your electronic cigarette expecting a pleasant burst of fruity flavour only to instead be greeted by the bitter taste of burning wick, then you are the audience we are addressing.

A burnt coil makes vaping unpleasant. It means you don’t get your nicotine hit or your burst of flavour. A dry hit or burnt hit takes all the fun out of vaping. With that in mind, we researched the top five ways in which you could avoid that burnt vape taste by keeping your coils in order.

The 5 Best Ways to Avoid a Burnt Vape Taste

Keeping your coil fresh is a vital part of vape maintenance. Nevertheless, if you are not careful, you can still endure the odd burned hit. Here are the best ways to avoid a nasty taste when you vape.

1 - Turn down the power

This tip to avoid a burnt coil is for those who consistently get a dry hit or burning taste when they vape. The consistency of the problem shows that you are using too much power and thereby drying out the wick too quickly. Try turning down the power on your vape device and see if that helps.

2 – Dowse the wick

When you insert a new coil is when you are likely to experience a burnt hit on your vape. To avoid that burning taste, dowse the wick with liquid before you use it. The point of applying e-liquid straight to the wick is to saturate it. This way when you apply the heat, the wick can take it without burning. We call this priming the coil.

3 – Wait 30 seconds after installing a new coil or using new e-liquid

After you dowse the wick or insert a new coil, make sure that you wait a few seconds to allow the e-liquid to soak through. Your problem could just be haste. We don’t blame you. Everyone wants a nicotine hit that is quick and flavourful.

4 – Add in E-juice

The coil could be dry, which might be giving you a burnt taste to vaping. Make sure there is enough e-juice in the vape tank to cover that coil and give you a great flavour burst instead of a dry, acrid hit.

5 – Adjust your PG:VG ratio

While vape juice with a high Propylene Glycol (PG) ratio are thinner and easier to burnt, vape juices with a higher Vegetable Glycerine (VG) ratio are thicker and harder on your coil. Switching to a higher PG to VG ratio could burn easier, leading to fewer burnt hits.
