Vaping How To -? FAQs on Vaping Correctly

Want to make the switch from smoking to vaping but worried about looking like a noob? Here are the answers to common 2023 vaping “how to” questions so you can vape like a pro from the start.

How To Vape FAQs

All new vape users have questions, here are the time-honoured favourite vape FAQs.

Q1 – How do you start vaping for beginners?

The best way to start vaping is by using a disposable. This tells you if you will enjoy it before you splurge. You can read our “Guide to the First Week of Vaping” article for a step-by-step walkthrough. Compared to smoking, a vape device could save you hundreds per month.

Q2 – How are you supposed to vape properly?

To vape properly, ensure your device is charged and has vape juice in the tank. If you are using a disposable vape, follow the instructions on the packet to use it. Place the mouthpiece to your lips and press the button, inhaling while you do. Breathe in a comfortable amount and then exhale.

Q3 – How long should you drag on the vape?

There is no set rule to how long a puff should be. There are studies which suggest the average puff length is about 3.5 seconds. An average is only a suggestion. Ex-smokers will tend towards less of a puff because the smoke was far harder on their lungs than vape juice/vapour is. Ex-smokers puff for about 2.3 seconds.

Q4 – How often should you hit the vape?

The same study referenced in Q3 is the same study that suggests daily puff averages of around 85 per day. Other sources say 135 puffs per day is the average. Current disposable devices can hold 550 puffs. As you can imagine, these are designed to last you a few days.

There are no real set rules on how often you should use your vape device. If you are an ex-smoker, use it every time you wish you were smoking. Eventually you will wonder how you ever coped with all the smoke.

Q5 – How many puffs of vape a day are safe?

Vapes are always evolving but the UK government have regulations governing the strength of products. Typically manufacturers advise that ten puffs equal ten cigarettes. However, vape juice has fewer than twenty ingredients and cigarettes have 4,000.

It’s best to mention that one cigarette can have between 8 and 20 mg of nicotine. A typical disposable vape from popular vape brands in the UK vary from 0.3-2% nicotine. 2% nicotine is equal to 20mg of nicotine. More than one of these a day is not such a great idea. Keep your nicotine strengths low to enjoy vaping all night.
