Getting to Know Vape Juice: A Beginner’s Guide to E-Liquids | Vape Direct

Vape Juice, or E-Liquid, is used to fill your electronic cigarette or vape pen. It comes in different strengths and flavours. Here’s everything you need to know.

If you are new to the world of vaping, you won’t have much knowledge on vape juices and that’s OK. We are here to be your one-stop vaping shop resource for all things vape related. One of the ways we can do this is by guiding you smoothly through your choices in vape juice.

What is Vape Juice?

Vape juice or E-liquid is the nickname we give to the liquids we use in our electronic cigarettes. The liquid is what produces the vapor. When heated, it evaporates into a pleasant aroma, which we inhale through the mouthpiece.

How do you Fill Your Vape with Juice?

The vape juice goes into the middle part of your vape pen/electronic cigarette. This part has a tank on it, which should be marked with minimum and maximum levels. The tank ought to come apart so that you can refill it easily, but you will have to look at your vape pen’s instructions to see how it comes apart as each vape kit/pen is different. You fill the tank with your chosen liquid, and it is ready to vape. When filling up a new device for the first time be sure to leave the e-liquid in the tank for at least 10 minutes to allow it to soak into the coil.

Do I Want VG or PG E-Cig Liquid?

There are two main choices of type of vape liquid. You can have the original type, the PG, which stands for Propylene Glycol. Or you can have the vegetable oil type, the VG, which is short for Vegetable Glycerine. In terms of being good or bad for you, science says that both are about the same. However, there are obvious differences between the two.

PG is favoured by most. It is a thinner consistency which vaporises quicker. It catches in the back of your throat which is good news for those switching to a vape pen/kit from cigarette smoking. Propylene Glycol is used in foods, so you know that it is reasonably safe to consume.

The Vegetable Glycerine version of vape liquids is derived from vegetables and is therefore vegetarian and vegan friendly. They are thicker in texture, which makes for a smokier burn. They still hit the back of your throat but that hit can be a bit  harsher. This makes VG vape juices that little bit better for the ex-smoker making the switch.

If you are a new vape user, we say opt for PG unless you are vegan/vegetarian. Otherwise, ex-smokers should stick to PG, and those in the process of quitting might best enjoy the VG.

Is there Nicotine in Vape Juice?

Yes, vape juices also contain flavourings and nicotine. Some don’t, you can vape nicotine-free juices if you prefer. This is healthier because there is no addictive substance. Nicotine is addictive and comes with the warning not to start using it.

Vape juices come in multiple levels of nicotine strength. Do check the pack before you buy. As a guide, you can get 6mg, 12mg, 18mg and stronger. For new vape users, the 6mg is strong enough. For those quitting cigarettes, the stronger, the better.

Vape Juice Flavours

The last thing we want to visit is the dazzling array of choices that are out there. You can choose anything from some fruit to a candy, a cake to a straight tobacco taste. You can have menthol and mints, chocolates and sweets, and any other type of juice under the sun. Experiment and live a little. We sure have.
